Since its building in 1841 Augill Castle has seen its fair share of colourful incumbents, not least John Bagot Pearson, who commissioned the castle in 1837. His vision was of a weekend retreat where he could entertain his friends in a style reminiscent of a medieval royal banquet

Since then Augill Castle has had a long tradition of memorable hospitality and today is still a house happiest when it is full.

Augill is licensed to hold civil marriages and has been described as one of the country’s most romantic houses.

Wedding ceremonies can be held in one of the castle’s four magnificent public rooms. But don’t expect uniform rows of chairs. Instead there are comfortable armchairs, sofas and well worn pieces of furniture to rest against.

There is no formula; no set packages. Each event at Augill is as unique as the setting itself.
